Getting there

The easiest option is to fly directly to Trapani Airport (Vincenzo Florio), which is only about 5 minutes by car from the spot.

Another option is to fly to Palermo Airport. From there you can take a bus to Trapani Birgi Airport (around 1 hour, approx. €10), or rent a car, which we highly recommend since public transport in the area is quite limited.

We’re also happy to help you book a bus, rental car, or taxi if needed.

CAR RENTAL
We recommend renting a car, as public transportation in the area is quite limited. Sometimes your accommodation may provide bicycles, but if you’d like to explore the island and surrounding spots, a rental car or scooter is the best option.
We’re happy to help you organize a rental car or scooter if needed.

What to expect?

KITECAMP / WINGCAMP

• 6-day intensive camp: We spend 4–5 hours on the water with you every day, teaching you how to kite/wing from scratch or helping you work on your next trick. Whether in the water or on land, you’ll learn both the practical skills and the essential theory to become a more confident and independent rider.

• Group training: Train together with other participants, exchange experiences, and support each other. The maximum group size is 4 students per instructor.

• Large equipment pool: You will have access to a wide range of equipment from Core and Duotone. All of our gear is from the current season, carefully maintained, and regularly renewed. We also offer different models for you to test, helping you find the right setup for your own future equipment.

• Group atmosphere: We don’t just spend time together on the water — in the evenings or on windless days, we explore the island together. It’s important to us that you also experience Sicily’s culture and food, so during the week we usually go out 3–4 times together to discover local restaurants, enjoy great dinners, and make the camp a true holiday experience.

COURSES

If you only have limited time or are only staying for a few days or over the weekend, we offer semi-private and private lessons. This way, you get especially intensive coaching and can make fast progress.

Semi-private lessons:
In our semi-private lessons, you train with a maximum of 2 students per instructor. This leaves enough time for individual coaching while also allowing you to benefit from learning together.
Lesson duration: approx. 3 hours per session
Private lessons:
In our private lessons, you have your own instructor (1 student / 1 instructor). This allows us to fully adapt the training to your level, your pace, and your personal goals.
Lesson duration: approx. 2 hours per session

Group Guides lessons:
In our Group Guides lessons, one instructor teaches two students, and each of you will have your own kite. This setup allows you to practice more and progress faster. If you already have some experience and want to improve your skills or progress further with the kite, these lessons are perfect for taking your riding to the next level.
Lesson duration: approx. 2 hours per session

Suitable for:

• Beginners: no previous kitesurfing experience
• Intermediate: some first experience already – focus on improving your skills (from body dragging to learning new tricks)

What else to bring?

Primesurf Sicily Kitesurfing Martin

Wetsuit

If you have your own wetsuit, please bring it with you. If you don’t have one, no problem, we will provide you with one on site.

Water temperature & wetsuit recommendations
December – March:
The water is at its coldest, around 12–15°C. We recommend a 5/4 mm or 5/3 mm wetsuit.
April – May:
The water slowly starts to warm up but is still cool. A 4/3 mm wetsuit is recommended.
June : Most of the time a 3/2 mm
July, August / September: Shorty or swim wear is enough. Don’t forget a lycra.
Autumn (End of September – November):
The water is still warm from summer but gradually cools down. A 3/2 mm or 4/3 mm wetsuit works well.

Harness

We have seat harnesses and hip harnesses available on site, so you can choose what feels most comfortable for you. Of course, you’re also welcome to bring your own harness if you prefer. Leashes are available as well.

Neoprene shoes

Neoprene shoes are recommended for all kiters, as small stones can sometimes be hidden in the lagoon. For hygienic reasons, we do not rent neoprene shoes, but you can buy them in our shop or directly on site.

Nice to have

From October to April/May, evenings can get cooler, so we recommend bringing a jacket or sweater.

In summer, Sicily is warm, so make sure to bring sunglasses with a strap (you’ll be on the water all day), a reusable water bottle, waterproof sunscreen (SPF 50!), and a quick-dry towel. We also have a water refill station at the school, and you can purchase a Primesurf bottle in our shop if you need one.

For women, leggings can be helpful, as there are sometimes small anemones in the lagoon that can feel a bit like mosquito bites on the legs. A lycra top is also recommended. Most of these items can also be purchased directly at our shop at the kite school.

Don’t worry — you can store all your belongings at our school, as we have a dedicated area.

If you come by car, you can park you car just behind our school.

LIABILITY AND EQUIPMENT INSURANCELiability and Equipment insurance

During your private and semi-private courses, all equipment is fully insured. For camps, rental sessions, and guided lessons, please note that the equipment is not insured. We recommend arranging a kite insurance or checking with your private insurance provider in advance.

To ensure optimum protection for you and your equipment during the kite or wing camp and beyond, we recommend the SAFETY TOOL, which is offered by the VDWS and the Südwestring. You can take it out in advance for 39€/year.
You can take out the SAFETY TOOL here.
Alternatively, you could also consider private liability insurance that also covers kiting / winging (although very few insurance companies offer this).
In case of any damage, we will issue an invoice that needs to be settled promptly, and you can then claim the amount back from your insurance.

LICENSE

Licence
Every participant, whether beginner or advanced, has the opportunity to acquire a VDWS license during the event week. The basic VDWS license including textbook, exam and level sticker costs 50€. A level upgrade costs 10€.

DAILY ESSENTIALS

For small groceries and quick supplies, there is a mini market directly at the spot where you can get water, pasta, snacks, and other basics.

📍 IL MINIMARKET LO STAGNONE

If you need a bigger supermarket, head to San Leonardo. There you’ll find everything from groceries to sunscreen, shampoo, and other essentials.

📍 Supermercato Tumminello Superstore

Right next to the supermarket you’ll also find Maria’s fruit shop (best fruit!) and a local butcher with amazing chicken, so it’s the perfect place to stock up on fresh food.

For the best restaurants in Marsala and Trapani, ATMs, excursions, beaches, and other local tips, simply check out the guide in your Tideforce account. There you’ll find all the important information plus plenty of local insider tips to make the most of your time in Sicily.

WHAT IF THERE IS NO WIND?

Then there is still plenty to discover on the island. Here are a few ideas:

Beach

The closest beach to us is in San Teodoro, perfect for a quick swim and relaxing by the sea. If you’re looking for the most beautiful beach with crystal-clear turquoise water, we highly recommend San Vito Lo Capo, about one hour away — definitely worth the trip.

Hiking

If it’s not too hot, we highly recommend hiking in the Riserva Naturale Orientata dello Zingaro. It’s a beautiful coastal nature reserve with small bays, great snorkeling spots, and easy scenic trails. Make sure to bring enough water, a sun hat, and proper shoes, as the reserve can only be entered with closed footwear.

Boat Trip

In the summer months, our absolute highlight excursion is visiting the Egadi Islands. Rent a boat or take the ferry and explore Favignana, Levanzo, and Marettimo — perfect for snorkeling and discovering hidden coves.

Hot Springs

Relax in the Terme di Segesta, natural hot springs with water temperatures of around 47°C — a unique experience surrounded by nature.

Salt & History

This part of Sicily is famous for its traditional salt production. Visit the Salt Museum and take a short boat ride to the small island of Mozia, where you’ll find ancient roads, small temple ruins, and learn about the traditional method of salt harvesting. You can even buy salt directly from the lagoon.

If you have any questions or need tips for planning your trips, feel free to ask us anytime.
